Nias is sitting on a couch on the upper level of the Queen City Grounds coffee shop, where about 40 people have squeezed onto a narrow balcony on a Saturday night. “Nobody loves murder more than white women,” emcee Jordan Centry tells the crowd. He’s brought his own sound system but still has to compete with the noise of customers placing orders that wafts up from the lower level. Storytelling is a timeless tradition that transcends cultures, generations, and backgrounds. It has the power to captivate hearts, inspire change, and create connections like nothing else can. In this class, open to storytellers of all skill levels, we will guide you on a quest to discover and refine your own unique stories, and empower you to share them confidently before an eager audience.

Submissions were received within North Carolina, yet extended to other states that included New York, Georgia, Illinois, Virginia, and Kentucky. A panel of readers were chosen to examine and score the submissions based on specific criteria formulated by the festival sponsors. The submitters with the top four scores were selected for the semi-finals.

And this year, Rory Sheriff’s Speakeasy will take the stage as the third finalist. This past Saturday (Memorial Day weekend), The African American Playwrights Group (AAPG) and Matthews Playhouse Of The Performing Arts sponsored the third BIPOC Playwrights Festival Semi-finals at Comedy Arts Theater Of Charlotte (CATCh). A special shout-out is given to the staff of CATCh that includes Abigail Head and Kevin Shimko, for being a venue sponsor for this event.

“I put a whole set together and rehearsed it for eight straight days for hours a day,” she remembers. For comedians, open mic nights are the easiest way to hone their professional chops or try out new material. On a good night, an open mic is funny and unpredictable; on a bad night, the audience is just a bunch of bored comics waiting their turn. Get ready to LOL at our improv comedy show, where surprises and hilarity await at every turn! After the staged readings, the four judges (Hank West, Mack Staton, Corlis Hayes, and Vickie L. Evans) deliberated and scored the presentations based on specific criteria also formulated by the festival sponsors. The playwright/work with the highest score was chosen as the finalist.

One of the opening acts is Doc Love, born Diacos Love, who came up in the Chicago scene and spent two years on the road opening shows for the late Dick Gregory. CATCh, Comedy Arts Theater of Charlotte, at 4128 South Blvd, is dedicated to providing an open door to all comedy artists and the larger community as a unique and inclusive performance space. 🎓Get ready to laugh your socks off as our stand-up comedy class graduates take the stage in style! Why Michael Jordans house has been on the market for four years

michael jordan's house

The NBA superstar’s home was built at the height of his career and comes with 9 bedrooms, 14 parking spaces, and some pretty out-of-the-ordinary customizations — including a door taken straight from the original Playboy mansion. Jordan bought a resort-style, 9,100-square-foot home at 103 West Bears Club Drive, The Real Deal reported. The five-bedroom, six-bath home sits on a one-acre property within The Bears Club, a 400-acre gated community with a Jack Nicklaus–designed golf course, about a mile from the ocean beach. Under Bulls and Bears LLC, Jordan owns his house in Jupiter and has expanded his real estate portfolio to include premium properties in Jupiter and other locations around South Florida and the United States. The primary bedroom is a comfortable retreat, but its lavish en-suite bath steals the show. A peek inside reveals marble floors, a barrel-vaulted ceiling, and a soaking tub set into a bay window.

Similarly, the compound also consists of an exotic spa and gigantic pool for some downtime. We all know of Michael Jordan’s love for cigars and gambling, so there’s a cigar-friendly media room in Jordan’s house with state-of-the-art ‘cigar friendly’ appliances. Fitting for one of the greatest NBA players of all time, Michael Jordan owns many houses around the country, from Illinois to Florida, North Carolina, and Utah.

There are plenty of media rooms throughout the house. Even the seemingly random nooks like this one below have TVs.

Many of them don’t need the cash from the sale in order to buy something new, meaning they can hold out for the price they want—even if that means waiting for years. And they often market the property globally, in order to reach more high-net-worth individuals. We can all agree that the house in Jupiter, Florida, is a next-level-class luxury home.

michael jordan's house

Jordan had the house custom built from scratch to suit his taste. Outside, there's an infinity pool ...

Jordan’s next real estate move took him to Jupiter, Florida, where he purchased a $4.8 million mansion situated on three acres of Jack Nicklaus’s exclusive Bear’s Club community. Jordan reportedly spent an additional $7.6 million renovating the house to his particular standards. It’s the residence that he and wife Yvette Prieto currently reside in with their twin daughters, Victoria and Ysabel. Built in 1995, the contemporary-style mansion has 15 full bathrooms, 4 half bathrooms, a regulation-sized basketball gymnasium, a circular infinity pool and a cigar room. The property has 56,000 square feet of living space in total, including the basement and the garage with space for 15 cars, while outside on the grounds are a tennis court and a putting green. Jordan married his first wife, Juanita Vanoy, in 1989, and the pair purchased a Chicago penthouse together a few years later for $3 million.

The local tax assessor assigns a market value of $4.77 million to the property. At the entrance of the private driveway is a grand entry gate bearing Michael Jordan’s famous Chicago Bulls shirt number 23. This level of personalisation is perhaps the reason why the property has failed to sell.

Featuring a full-size basketball court, a state-of-the-art fitness center, a 2,000-bottle wine cellar, and a private home theater, Jordan's home has no shortage of amenities. Impeccable craftsmanship, high-end finishes, and breathtaking views of the well-manicured golf course create an ambiance that reflects Jordan's taste for opulence. A name synonymous with basketball legend, Michael Jordan is almost as popular in his business ventures as he was on the court.

Inside, the mansion has five lounges with so many ceiling-to-floor windows for plenty of natural light. Outside, this massive property is surrounded by more than 260 trees and also houses a 15-heated garage space and a well-stocked pond. The house also has a private dock to lake Norman where the family can enjoy water sports or a leisurely Sunday afternoon walk. The family room has large windows that pour the outdoor atmosphere into the indoor space; this also helps ensure that there’s plenty of light. Now you can get a peek at His Airness’ $14.9 million mansion in Highland Park, Ill..

He has solidified his presence in the growing city and continues to make an indelible mark on the world of sports and business all over the globe. At least for us here in Florida, Michael Jordan's house in Jupiter is a testament to his enduring legacy. As with any sale, pricing it appropriately from the start is very important, said Blankenship. “You don’t want to be in a position where you are chasing the market down,” she said.

Johnny Depp Relists French Village for $55 Million, More Than Doubling the Price

Basketball Hall of Famer MichaelJordan made headlines this week by purchasing a $16.5 million mansion in the Palm Beach County town of Jupiter, where he already owns a home. One of the most celebrated athletes in history, Michael Jordan has continued to make a name for himself far beyond basketball. Jordan's entrepreneurial spirit led him to explore various business ventures, including his ownership of the Charlotte Hornets NBA franchise. Double islands add functionality to the light-filled kitchen, paring wood cabinets and accents with white marble countertops.

These include the South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Duke, and Syracuse programs. Finally, in 1981, he accepted a scholarship to the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he played and majored in Cultural geography. But while the home is luxurious at best and carries a lot of Jordan’s history, he has yet to unload the property to a buyer. Based on reports, one of the major reasons Jordan has yet to sell the mansion is because the house is too customized for Jordan. On the other hand, location is also a major factor, given that people who can afford his mansion would rather live elsewhere.

It took two years to complete, six months of planning, plus eighteen months of construction to create MJ’s luxury dream home. In 1968, when Michael Jordan was five years old, the family moved to Wilmington, North Carolina, where Jordan enrolled at Emsley A. Laney High School. The irony is that Jordan tried to join the varsity basketball team in his second year, but he was 5’11” at the time, and they thought he was too short to play. As one of the most famous athletes in basketball and professional sports, the Jordan brand brings Jordan roughly $130 million annually. Michael Jordan’s current net worth is estimated at $1.7 billion, making him one of the richest athletes in the world.

As you step inside the lower level of the Highland Park home, it houses a walk-in humidor, a fully equipped beauty salon, and a gigantic wine cellar that holds 500 bottles. Next to the wine cellar is an exquisite wine-tasting room to complement the wine cellar. The Illinois mansion in the Chicago suburb has nine bedrooms, five full bathrooms, and four half-bathrooms. From the house design, it’s clear that Michael Jordan prefers the familiar clean break brought about by the Mizner Traditional Mediterranean architecture. This architectural design is popular in the Palm Beach area and has been used for the past 80 years.

The sprawling property sits on 3 acres and is surrounded by tall trees and lush landscape, to protect the baseball legend’s privacy. Michael owns a 6-bedroom lakefront home in Cornelius, NC, and another luxury condo in downtown Charlotte. He picked up two large properties in North Carolina, a state dear to his heart for several reasons. In addition to owning their NBA team, the Charlotte Hornets, Jordan often calls North Carolina his home state — he spent his childhood living here after his parents moved to the Tar Heel State when he was just a toddler. In fact, the more customized the home is, the harder it is to find the right buyer for it. The best example is Shaquille O’Neal’s longtime home in Florida, which bounced on and off the market for years.

And outside, there’s a tennis court, a putting green, and an infinity pool with a grass island in the centre. Current homes for sale in The Bears Club range from $5.5 million to $37.5 million, with a property selling in March 2023 for nearly $20 million. The Bears Club offers luxurious amenities, including a clubhouse with fine dining options, a fitness center, and tennis facilities.

Focusing on the finest seasonal ingredients and pure bold flavors, we elevate the classic steak experience to the “Michael Jordan” level.

YouTube star FaZe Rug lives in a lavish $4.4M mansion in Poway, CA

The interiors are no less impressive, with high-quality finishes like Italian marble, bamboo floors, granite countertops, and Swiss pearwood throughout. The primary suite even boasts a private balcony overlooking the Wasatch Mountains and the Glenwild Golf Club. Jordan ultimately listed the lavish getaway for $7.5 million in 2019, but it does not look like he’s found the right buyer just yet. Unsurprisingly, the custom-designed home includes a regulation-sized basketball gym. But there’s also a circular infinity pool, putting green, tennis court, and cigar room, each with Jordan’s signature touch. The focal point of the home is a full basketball court, painted with the Jumpman logo.

The Bear’s Club, Florida

So, naturally, a number of pro golfers like Tiger Woods and Michelle Wie, along with A-listers such as Celine Dion, have at one time or another taken up residence inside the guarded gates of the prestigious community. Michael Jordan is known to maintain a large estate at The Bear’s Club, and a newly listed $18.5 million mansion offers you the chance to run into His Airness on the links or at the clubhouse. Michael Jordan may be the best basketball player of all time, but selling his 56,000-square-foot house north of Chicago hasn’t been a layup. After more than four years on the market and several price cuts, the home is still waiting for a buyer. Besides the circular infinity pool, the property has a well-maintained outdoor tennis court and a sprawling golf course. Several years after he officially retired from the NBA, the pro athlete returned to his home state of North Carolina.

The outdoor space proves to be spectacular. There's a tennis court ...

Jordan also owns residences in Utah, Florida, and his home state of North Carolina. Below, we’re sharing a glimpse into some of Jordan’s most well-known portfolio pieces, each one just as unique and legendary as the star athlete himself. The house has nine bedrooms, 15 full bathrooms, a basketball court, card room, humidor, putting green, fitness studio and tennis court. The front gates are adorned with a large “23,” reminding visitors they’re at the home of a living sports legend.

... and 19 bathrooms.

Other players listed in the 2024 GOAT race were Kobe Bryant, Stephen Curry, Paul Pierce and Magic Johnson. “He’ll be 40 years old on Dec. 30, yet is still great enough to be widely considered one of the best players in today’s game. Michael Jordan's decision to skip the White House visit to gamble highlights the complexities of his character and his penchant for high-stakes competition both on and off the basketball court.

The eclectic details spill over into the interiors, where you’ll find a sweeping staircase in the foyer and, in the living room, floor-to-ceiling arched windows, coffered ceilings, and a carved stone fireplace. It certainly isn’t due to a lack of creative marketing; a series of videos portray the home as a trophy property of a champion, and has produced serious inquires, some of them coming from China, Nartey said. Not surprising, given Jordan’s world-wide appeal, China’s love of basketball and the popularity of wealthy Chinese to invest in U.S. real estate. In fact, some recent marketing was produced in Mandarin to market directly to that niche, he added. About your inquiry and other home-related matters, but not as a condition of any purchase. MoreYou also agree to our Terms of Use, and to our Privacy Policy regarding the information relating to you.

Another luxurious part of Jordan's estate is the expansive wine cellar.

His real-estate agent, Kofi Nartey, of The Agency in Beverly Hills, Calif., told Maxim magazine that the buyer could receive a pair of every edition of Air Jordan sneakers—in his or her size. The 56,000 square foot property-equipped with every conceivable luxury amenity-is a physical monument to his tireless dedication and hard work. The custom designed property includes a regulation-sized basketball gymnasium, circular infinity pool, putting green, tennis court, and cigar room, each with Michael Jordan's signature touch.

Customized Illinois Mansion

One of the islands can be used for quick bites, while the copious cabinet space houses a gas range and convection ovens. Other highlights include a billiards room with a wet bar and a fireplace, a home theater, a den with another fireplace, a home office, and a family room with a balcony. For the rest of us—those who can’t “be like Mike” and are aiming for the quickest sale possible—there are some lessons to be learned from Jordan’s adventure in real estate. Privacy reasons are also why people might shy away from buying well-known homes—fearing the history of the home will bring unwanted visitors, added Rosenfeld. There will always be fans who want to take their picture in front of Jordan’s estate, regardless of who lives in it, he said. Simpson’s Rockingham home in Brentwood, Calif., has been torn down and replaced with another, yet people still take pictures on the property, Rosenfeld added.

It's All About The Steak

And while that might sound hefty, as the listing notes, the property has been fitted with every conceivable luxury amenity. The seven-acre estate was the home court for Jordan's Breakfast Club -- that propelled the Bulls to six NBA Championships. He also noted that James has “saved some of his best work for last.” He has broken Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record and led the Lakers to the Western Conference finals just months later. Later that year, he led the team to win the inaugural In-Season Tournament title. During the 1993 NBA playoffs, Richard Esquinas — a one-time general manager of the San Diego Sports Arena — wrote in his book that Jordan owed him more than $1.2 million in gambling debt. Search thousands of Treasure Coast sold homes to get an idea of the home values in your neighborhood.

This 12,310-square-foot house has six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, and a lovely infinity pool. Renovated in 2022, the home features over 7,000 square feet of total space and also includes a newer roof, impact windows and doors, and new wood floors. The five-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bath house also has partial water views and is surrounded by tropical landscaping.

As the G.O.A.T would say “Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.” For over 20 years his concepts have created unprecedented experiences for everyone at the table. Our private dining offers an exceptional, personalized experience with the level of quality that lives up to the prestige of a legend. In recent years, Jordan has gone on to establish his own private golf club, The Grove XXIII, in Hobe Sound, Florida. Just a few minutes away from Michael Jordan's house in Jupiter, the club has garnered the attention from hundreds of celebs, professional golfers, and friends of the basketball icon.

Over in Wellington — which Dan’s Papers has been covering through its new supplement “The Circuit” — it’s all about equestrian life. Given the show season has ended and many are headed back to the Northeast to places like the Hamptons and Connecticut, we were curious how that impacts the real estate market. While the winter season wraps up in Palm Beach, that doesn’t necessarily mean the market is showing signs of slowing down.

The other bedrooms, including one with custom-built bunk beds, feature en-suite bathrooms as well. Build the house too big for the neighborhood it’s in, and there won’t be comparable homes to help you price it. The median listing price of a home in Highland Park is about $675,000, according to Realtor.com, a far cry from Jordan’s asking price for his large home. Listed for sale with Compass, a Compass marketing rep reportedly explained that the company has seen an increase in searches for homes offering abundant outdoor space and pools since the pandemic. With Jordan's estate ticking both those boxes, they hope the property will get more interest this year.

The numbers presented in these graphs should be understood as the minimum amount spent and do not represent the true size of police operations. Some cities—most notably New York City—spend money on specific policing costs (such as staff benefits) through budget lines that are not captured in BJS’s methodology. Furthermore, the graphs below do not include federal and state dollars spent on local policing, which account for around 14 percent of police department spending. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to re-envisioning public safety.

"Thorp" is an Old Norse/Anglo-Saxon word meaning farmstead, village or hamlet. "Thorp" appears in many English place names such as Bridgethorpe. The earliest known line of the family traces its descent from Robert Thorp in Yorkshire around the year 1200.If this isn't confusing enough, Jim Thorpe was married three times, and none of his wives were Native American. That suggests that not one of his children are even one-third Native American. A minimum of a 10-gallon tank should be used for up to four mice, although the larger you can go the better. You also need to make sure the lid is secure, and the mice have plenty of items and/or treats for them to chew on.

Pet Friendly Sober Living

The downside is that some dog breeds are more high maintenance than others. Additionally, some dogs require more exercise and space than others, which makes them among the worst dog breeds for seniors. Even though they need special care because they’re used to Australia’s climate—bearded dragons are still super popular pets because they’re gentle and look amazing. You have to keep their environment just right, with specific temperatures and plenty of room.

Top Pets for Apartment Living

You are also not limited to just fish in your tank, as you can also include some species of shrimp, snails, and even African dwarf frogs. Like some reptiles, ferrets are not allowed as pets in some jurisdictions, so before buying a pet ferret be aware of where they are allowed and when ferret ownership is restricted. The downside is that reptiles require specialized care, such as UV light and a specific temperature and humidity level. Additionally, some reptiles can be difficult to handle and can be quite smelly. Keeping chickens used to be mostly about making money, but now, more people are doing it just for themselves.

Painted Turtle

Since rabbits don’t need much space, they’re great for folks who live in apartments or small houses. They're an empathetic breed who enjoy spending time with children and other animals, making them a great house and family pet. They love to play, and while they don't require constant exercise, they make the perfect running buddy on your morning or afternoon jog! Collies do shed a lot, so it's important she's brushed and groomed often. In their natural habitat, golden hamsters tend to be solitary, so it's fine to keep just one as a pet. Owner Lynne Crosby opened Maxwell Dog in 2002, and it’s been a charming Studio City mainstay ever since.

Dog lovers rallied to locate the dog and find it a foster home.

Inquisitive, playful and intelligent, these miniature nocturnal possums love nothing more than to curl up in a hand or pocket. Growing to around five to 12 inches long, they make for some of the best smallest pets. Similar looking to hamsters, these desert dwellers are diurnal (which means they’re active during the day). They can reach between two inches to over eight inches in length and that excludes their tails. Inside, they discovered the woman — who had been facing foreclosure — was a hoarder with trash strewn everywhere and cats and dogs running amok indoors. Tough days might come, but with our supportive sober community, you’re never alone.

"Betta fish are stunning, really hardy, and you can have an awesome low-maintenance setup," Adams says. He recommends buying a five-gallon aquarium kit, which is a perfect size for betta fish. "And once your tank is ready, you only need to feed them once a day—or get an automatic fish feeder—and replace 15 percent of the water each week." Bugs are definitely not a small pet for the squeamish, although they do well in small spaces because you can keep them in a small tank. They don't have the same exercise needs as larger animals and, for the most part, do not need to interact with you at all.

What is the best family dog in Australia?

They are good house dogs because they are easily trainable and well-suited for all climates and living conditions. Boxers have long been known as one of the best house dogs for families, especially if you have kids. These dogs are excellent with kids and other pets but are often cautious around strangers. You'll need to take grooming requirements, activity level, size, and common health ailments in mind when choosing a good house dog for your family. She aspires to live a healthy lifestyle by staying active and eating foods that nourish her body, but she isn't afraid to indulge in a little chocolate here and there! Purchasing a dog is obviously a significant decision and must be considered carefully. Snails should be kept in a clear terrarium, and you can house multiple snails together, with one to two inches of soil, according to Pets on Mom. You may want to consider getting more than one hermit crab, though, as Hess notes they do best in groups of two or more. Ventejol also says his expenditures are minimal as a rabbit owner.

English Bulldogs are great for potential pet parents looking for a more sedentary breed. This breed is extremely loyal to its owner and has historically formed strong bonds with children in the family. Jack Russell Terriers adapt to most living conditions and most weather, but they need a lot of exercise because of their high energy. Highly intelligent and charismatic, these little bundles of energy make great pets.

Despite their unusual appearance, the amphibians aren’t hard to care for. Give them the right aquatic environment to thrive and your small salamander can live up to 15 years. Brightly colored, these lizards are known for their large throat fans, or dewlaps, which allow them to communicate. Growing between five to 18 inches, there’s never a dull moment with these color-changing creatures. Generally speaking, mice are usually around two to four inches long, with a tail about the same length and can be kept in a wire cage with a plastic tray floor. If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.

They enjoy spending time with their caretakers and being handled, but they are also perfectly happy spending most of their day entertaining themselves. They need a similar cage size to finches (at least three feet tall and 3-4 square feet of floor space), but they will also need a couple of hours of exercise outside of their cage each day. They are intelligent, furry, and tend to live years, which makes them great companions.

Border Collies are an excellent breed for kids because of their energetic nature. Despite his large size, the mastiff can thrive living in an apartment. Because of their easy-going personality, they are a cinch to train and are excellent guard dogs. Because this dog is of the herding family, caution should be used when the dog is around small children.

Pet friendly sober living homes allow pets and residents to engage in group activities together, such as taking a dog for a walk or playing with a ball. Sharing the responsibility and joy of a pet can present opportunities to bond with fellow residents. When pet-friendly sober living homes have dogs, staff generally make sure that residents cooperate to ensure the dog’s needs are met. Residents generally share duties of feeding, grooming, and caring for the creature.

In August 2023, Port Canaveral commissioners allocated US$67,46 million for constructing two northside cruise parking garages.

Port's containership terminal (North Cargo berths 5 and 6) is operated by GT USA. The dredging works removed 22,3+ million ft3 (632,000 m3) of seabed material. For the dredging was contracted Dutra Group (based in San Rafael, California).

On June 7, 2017, engineering and design works for the new terminal were officially approved. In January 2018 was approved the construction of a new multi-purpose cargo ship berth ("North Cargo Berth 8" / NCB8). By the project were also built a seawall (900 ft / 274 m) and a pier extension (100 ft / 31 m) with capacity to handle vessels with max LOA length 850 ft/259 m. At the new berth can be handled various heavy project cargoes (including aerospace). The USD 17,9 million berth construction contract was awarded to the Tampa-based company Orion Marine Group.

It exports fresh citrus and bulk frozen citrus juice is stored in one of the biggest freezer warehouses in the state. The port also receives salt for water softening, lumber, automobiles, steel sheets and plates. Port Canaveral transships items for sea, air, space and land. Its Foreign Trade Zone is one of the nation's largest general-purpose FTZs, more than 13 km2 (5 mi2). Each year the port boosts the economy by 1/2 billion dollars. As homeport, this is a major turnaround port destination (serving roundtrip itineraries) with annual shipping traffic 4,5+ million cruise ship tourists.

The per-person, one-way prices are $35.99 and $39.99, respectively. The development project allowed the terminal to handle larger cruise ships (carrying up to 5,500 passengers). For FY2019, the port had ~5% growth (over FY18) in revenues from cruise shipping.

If you plan to stay near the airport the night before your cruise, you'll find plenty of hotels that offer free shuttle pickup service from the airport. But because of the distance from the airports to Port Canaveral, you won't find free shuttles to the cruise terminal (there are some paid options). For free airport transfers, you need to stay at a hotel close to Port Canaveral. There are seven cruise terminals, but in regular use are 5 - numbers 3, 5, 6, 8 and 10. They are newer, located on the Port's north side, and serve larger ships. Purchasing a transfer from your cruise line is an easy way to get from the airport to the cruise terminal (or your hotel).

However, if your vehicle is big, it might cost you a daily charge of $29. A generous number of parking lots serve Port Canaveral, given how busy it gets. After leaving your vehicle, you only have to walk a short distance to the ship.
